Curacao, Land Cruise
This wasn't a photo trip and I nearly did not take my camera equipment at all. In the end I compromised and took my "small" Sony 200-600mm lens instead of my 600mm prime lens.
Researching Curacao turned up only one target: Flamingos. There is a spot about an hour from the Sandals resort called Jan Kok and it was a likely target for Flamingos early in the morning. I arranged for a local taxi to pick me up at 7:00 AM and when I got in I told the driver my plan and purpose and she said "No. There is a better place". I said great, let's go. It was a better place. We eventually made it over to Jan Kok and there were only 4 birds and they were at a great distance.
An all inclusive resort turns out to be kind of like taking a cruise and staying on the ship the whole time, except that a cruise has more to do with shows and a casino among other things. I've never been into laying on the beach, so I was happy to have the Flamingo distraction one day.
The bonus was the iguanas and the local birds that were there on the resort. I spent one morning hunting them down and got some nice shots. With more effort I could have gotten many more birds.
