Tanzania - Wildebeest Migration/Calving - February 2026

This trip to Tanzania was my first, but my third photography trip to Africa and I have four more already on the calendeer for 2026 and 2027. It was my 17th trip with BCJ and my fourth with Casey Mannes, It lived up to my expectations. We saw tons of Wildebeest and predators and even a live birth of a wildebeest calf. If you ever go to Tanzania and the Ngorongo Crater, I highly recommend Lion's Paw for world class accomodations in an amazing setting.

I have never embeded a YouTube video on a gallery before. I hope it is not too distracting. I just really like this video. The slow motion effect is 8X slow motion using Sony's S&Q settings as taught by Mark Smith. The song is in Swahili and was written, composed, and performed by Suno.com. Please know that no actual human was deprived of work by Suno. This never would have been created by any other method as I have no talent at all and my budget is $0.

The title of the song is "The Whole of Me" and the first verse says:
I’m a little late / The minibus was so crowded / Sweat is dripping down my cheek / But I’m arriving / Please, don't be angry.

If you've ever driven through the streets of Arusha you've seen these wildly crowded minibuses. I swear I don't know how they fit that many people in them. The phrase "Ni mimi mzima" is the emotional anchor of the song. While "mzima" usually means "healthy" or "alive," in this context, it means "me in my entirety." The singer is saying that despite the sweat, the lateness, and the lack of expensive gifts, they are offering their full, authentic self as the ultimate prize. I guess it's a tender ass love song. It has nothing to do with a photo safari or wildebeest.
